ARCCO News

Artcite is one of three MEDIA ARTS recommenders for the Ontario Arts Council's Exhibitions Assistance program. The OAC Exhibition Assistance program provides grants of $500 to $1,500 to assist Ontario artists at all stages of their careers with presentation costs related to confirmed, upcoming public exhibitions of their work. In addition to its regular Exhibition Assistance budget, Artcite has been allocated a budget specifically for media artists. Media artists from all zones of the province are eligible to apply to Artcite for presentation assistance for projects which show excellence in the fields of new media, electronic and kinetic art, sound art, computer-driven works, code-based art and other new forms.
Exhibition Assistance for Media Arts is a subset of the current OAC Exhibition Assistance Program. Aside from the province-wide eligibility, all requirements of the OAC Exhibition Assistance program remain in effect. Please visit the program web page at: http://www.arts.on.ca/Page122.aspx to ensure that your project conforms with current OAC guidelines.
This OAC program is open to Ontario-based professional visual artists, craft artists and media artists who have a confirmed, upcoming public exhibition. In addition to the OAC program priorities and criteria, Artcite considers the following in our grant decision-making: artistic excellence; contemporary visual arts and/or media arts; significance of exhibition and/or venue in the development of the applicant's career; (all things being equal, a 1-week exhibit in a coffee shop is given significantly less funding priority than a major gallery exhibition); financial need (if known); career support to first-time applicants demonstrating artistic merit; regional activity; culturally diverse projects and applicants; experimentation and risk-taking; and contribution to the community
Grant decisions are made by a sub-committee of Artcite's Programming Committee of voting-artist members. The subcommittee is headed by a member of the board of directors.
We accept the following formats of audio-visual support material:
Digital images on a CD (jpgs); 35 mm slides; DVD/VCD;  website (only in addition to CD, DVD, slides, etc.);  photographs and/or digital prints;  supplemental materials including including diagrams and reviews.

Our deadlines for 2010 are:
July 10, 2010; September 10, 2010; November 10, 2010
Please note that we continue to accept applications after the January deadline, through July for consideration.
