This is just a sample of what you can do in Garage Band.

You need Adobe Flash Player to view this content.

Improve your recording and mixing skills using Garage Band. Apply this skill to your songs or movie scores.

While most people can get a basic start in GarageBand, this class will go beyond that. I use the program in film and television all the time. It is marketed for the musician who wants quick results but if you spend some time with the program you will see that you can get great sounds and mixes from this gem of a program.

You are encouraged to bring in your own project whether new or in progress.

Using Garage Band, an electric instrument, you will learn detailed aspects of direct instrument recording, mixing and automation, midi recording, loops, exporting and working with movie files. Please bring your own guitar or bass if you have one.

Each participant will work on their own iMac. 2 iMacs will have a midi controlled piano.

Requirements:

Experience with a Mac computer is recommended.

Previous experience with an instrument is highly recommended as you will be recording your own tracks.

Bring a flash drive so that you can take your project home with you.

If you are interested in loops only you do not need instrument experience.

THE CLASS

We will start by listening to a few tracks and looking at some screenshots and talking about jam packs.

Planning your project
